Overview

Lovely Veneras, SecuROM's Chief. Despite the cat noises, she's not a true cat like Hana, just an otherkin.

Lovely tends to have an aloof appearance. She doesn't take her job that seriously, preferring to harass Blue Angel members or hang out with Junko to actually securing Red Orchid, and not really caring to put up an air of professionality. SecuROM officers often joke that her second-in-command Amhar is the true "chief of SecuROM" compared to her, but her connections got her the job anyway. Her buttons are easy to push, as she's somewhat emotionally charged. Particularly high on her list of annoyances is her brother Lucius, due to envy of his success relative to her relative lack thereof.

Backstory

Lorenza Mabla Veneras was born June 19, 2116, to an extremely wealthy family from Argentina, who made a fortune managing cryptocurrency trades. They moved to America - specifically, the city of Dallas - between the birth of her brother Lucius and her own birth, so she grew up entirely in the United States. She was taught both English and Spanish, and speaks them fluently. Her middle name Mabla sounds like "amable", which she turned into a joke that she was very "lovely" in elementary school, hence the origin of her nickname "Lovely."

Lovely took an interest in - one could say, a hyperfixation on - cryptid monsters and spirits when she was fourteen, especially the nekomata. Cats were cute to her, and this monster could control ghosts too, and it had multiple tails. In 2020s terms, she is an "otherkin." On her fifteenth birthday, all she wanted was a way to look more like one. She expected a costume, but because they had extra money, her parents decided instead to commission a hearing augmentation device from Pearl Grey, a well known cybernetics company, in the shape of cat ears. The holographic projector devices on her legs were both also gifts from this quinceañera, while the whiskers she wanted - robotic ones that she could control the movement of, which her parents deemed "too far" - she got later by stealing her dad's credit card and getting them herself, putting them in her hair instead to say they were hair extensions instead. This did not work in the slightest and got her grounded for a month, but it was worth it to her mind. Teenagers do irresponsible things sometimes, after all.

Once she turned eighteen, in Veneras family tradition, she was left largely on her own to build up her life without her parents. Hence, she moved from Austin to Moradopolis, Iowa/Nebraska, a city formed from two company towns - tech company Blue Angel Network's Ceruleanberg and store-turned-megacorporation Red Orchid Market's Scarletville - coming too close together. The two fight for control over the metropolitan area, which she figured would mean it would be easy to find a job and work her way up. So Lovely signed on with SecuROM, Red Orchid's division responsible for security of their facilities, including Scarletville (theoretically Moradopolis, but that's the contention). Since Lucius had stayed in Texas (working at a research & development facility of Blue Angel), she grew more distant from him as well as her parents, as she only occasionally kept up a correspondence.

However, the future chief of security did not think she would be able to handle the responsibility of higher positions, meaning that while Lucius was doing the Veneras name proud, Lovely was stuck at pretty much the bottom of the barrel. However, things changed after Lucius took a very high up job with Blue Angel's public relations department, and moved to Moradopolis himself. Knowing tensions were high with Red Orchid anyways, and that Lovely worked for Red Orchid, he felt he could get away with some teasing of SecuROM employees. This caused her bosses to strongly dislike her brother, and since Lovely knew him best, they wanted her help. Her price for this help was that she get promoted, and after BANHammer-related shenanigans, now she leads a team of officers, albeit usually not very well.
